“The Child is Father of The Man”

“The Child is Father of The Man”

Dearest Readers,
I recently connected with an author that also writes about parenting, and what it means to be a parent in today’s world. Ignatius Fernandez asks many questions and evokes the reader to ponder about the largest responsibility we take on.

If those of us who are moved to share about our experiences, our wisdom, our feelings (or anything at all when it comes to parenting), support each other, we allow the possibility of making a difference in at least one person’s life. If we reach, perhaps we can make a difference in at least one child’s life. Or maybe even the future of our world.

That being said, I would like to support a fellow author and his message on parenting, as well as you, the reader, by offering one of Ignatius’ articles. I hope that you enjoy it, and that it leaves you wondering.

Happy Spring! Time for a Wholistic Detox

Happy Spring! Time for a Wholistic Detox

I recently had an article published in Wise Mom Magazine’s Spring Issue, on clearing your space before you experience a renewal in your life. I am attaching the article as part of this week’s post.

What the article mentions is how we need to cleanse on many levels for our growth, and for our journey towards the life we would like to live. In the same way that you would clean out your closet right around Spring time, and get rid of old items to make room for new clothes; or similar to how some of us begin a detox and clean out our colon and other vital organs, we also need to clear our inner space. With that, I mean that we need to clear our hold ups on a spiritual, mental and emotional level as well. In the article, I share my personal experience with this kind of whole body detox, so that a picture is painted of how deep we can go when clearing out the old and making room for the new. When we do this, we are finally able to move into a different space in our lives – a space of greater wisdom, creativity, stronger relationships and an overall better life. This is transformation.

Kids Don’t Come With Instructions

Kids Don’t Come With Instructions

As I was driving today, I passed by a bus stop that had an adverstisement on it, with the title above – “Kids Don’t Come With Instructions”. It resonated with me, and so I read on. The rest of the ad said something like… this is why you should trust your hospital with your child. And that part of the ad…I had no connection to.

What I was left with, was the idea that we need to trust an outside source when it comes to our children. In this case, it was about their health, but how many other times have we been redirected to an outside source when making a decision for our family. While I was driving, I began to wonder… how many times have we been intentionally directed to trust ourselves, or our intuition, our parenting instinct, our knowledge? How often are we guided to trust ourselves when it comes to our parenting choices? After all, does anyone know a child better than their own mother or father?
